South Dakota Sunshine & Minnesota Snow
Lyrics
South Dakota Sunshine and Minnesota Snow (for Sunshine and Shana)- by The Holt Twins c1990
Bridge: People come and people go, but you're forever by our side; faithful and true, whatever the cost, I know you'd give your life for us.
Chorus:The only time I feel love is when I sing a love song except through the eyes of man's best friend; A true love that never changes.
Somehow I knew when I left years ago that the road would always be my friend. Travellin' down the road the same songs keep us company.
1) We found you in our travels, a neverending love. It didn't matter how we looked or what mistakes we made. You loved us anyway.
(You have loved us through all our faults and misgivings, protected and comforted us, given us faithful, unconditional love) A nudge
On the hand, a kiss on the cheek could always bring a smile. That South Dakota Sunshine and Minnesota Snow will never let us down.
2) (It's your smiling face I look forward to see) We ran across the Black Hills of South Dakota, camped in The Rocky Mountains.
(When I come home and you come to greet me laughing with joy) Floated in a clay pit in Missouri, you chased horses in Michigan.
We raced through the wildflowers. (You have been our best friends always by our side wherever we've been) Herded cows in Nebraska,
Played among the cornfields of Iowa, swam in the lakes of Wisconsin.
Then South Dakota Sunshine and Minnesota Snow found a home in Pennsylvania.
3) (I live for you and you for me. You shall always be by my side and the love you've given me will never leave)I know the day
Will come when you will have to leave. It won't be by your choice and we will mourn and laugh and cry.We'll miss you forever;
(Our eyes flood with tears at the mere thought of having to say good-bye to you, our old friends) But, we'll save some more friends in
Honor of your memory to help replace our lost. 'Cause South Dakota Sunshine and Minnesota Snow have brightened up
Our lives and all they have befriended.

Short Song Description:
A road song lovingly written about
"man's best friend"- 2 dogs that were true companions in our travels

Story Behind the Song:
We got Sunshine in South Dakota at a humane league and got Shana in Minnesota- 2 of the best dogs anyone could have ever had. They were our true companions and protectors while we were traveling on the road and we wrote them this song to show our love for them and all of "man's best friends".
